With this blog I am going to be including some of my motorcycle trips. I came to Thailand in 2021 when covid was starting. I ended getting stuck here for a year and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. This where my love of motorcycling went crazy.
The wonderful thing about Thailand it is a huge country with lots of places to see and most are accessible by bike. I do need to do a disclaimer that Thailand is not the place to learn to ride. This is because there are mountain ranges and lots of switch backs. The traffic rules are vague at most. After spending lots of time in Thailand I feel confident in riding here.
Being on a bike gives you a sense of freedom and it's my way of mediating. I have been blessed with many great friends I am able to ride with and it is always a great time. These friends tend to be lifelong friends.
I had the opportunity to do big rides this week. We took off from Chiang Mai Thailand our first stop was the "The Farm Cafe" had this great view. It sits along the rice patty fields and offers stunning views with great coffee.
We continued on to " Stay Wild @ Cafe". this beautiful place, overlooking the river and an elephant camp.
Stay Wild & Café is located in Mae Taeng District. It is a café next to the water and also offers accommodation. Stay Wild & Café is about 60 kilometers from Chiang Mai city. Here are some fun Adventure activities for tourists who like adventures to try with a variety of activities such as rafting, ATV driving, elephant trekking, and white water rafting, which is a popular activity that has it all.
Sunday was a ride to a place called sticky falls and to the suspension bridge Dam. Nam Tok Bua Tong (น้ําตกบัวตอง) aka the Sticky Waterfall, is an incredibly cool place to check out when you’re in Chiang Mai. The water here bubbles up from a natural spring, and it has such high levels of dissolved minerals that it coats the rocks and tree roots it flows over in high-traction limestone. They call it the “Sticky Falls” because the stone has so much grip. It’s a waterfall and it looks like it should be slippery, so your eyes can’t quite believe it when you see people easily walking on the steep rocks. You can climb all over the waterfall here and go wherever you want to go. It’s crazy fun here, and a great place to get some really cool photos.
The Chiang Mai Sticky Waterfall is located under an hour and a half from the city making it a popular half-day trip, and it’s really worth the journey. The Chiang Mai sticky falls used to be fairly unknown but can get a bit crowded these days.
Embarking on a motorcycle adventure trip is a thrilling experience that combines the love of riding with the excitement of exploration. Planning such a journey requires careful consideration and preparation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable ride. In this guide, we'll outline key steps to help you plan the ultimate motorcycle adventure trip.
1. Define Your Route:
Choose a route that aligns with your preferences – whether it's scenic landscapes, winding roads, or cultural landmarks. Utilize online maps and forums to discover popular motorcycle routes, and consider factors like weather, road conditions, and fuel availability when planning your itinerary.
2. Check Your Motorcycle:
A well-maintained bike is crucial for a successful adventure. Schedule a pre-trip inspection or take your motorcycle to a professional for a thorough check-up. Ensure that tires, brakes, lights, and fluids are in top condition. Don't forget to carry a basic toolkit and spare parts for quick fixes on the road.
3. Pack Wisely:
Pack light, focusing on essentials such as riding gear, spare clothes, toiletries, and necessary documents. Invest in quality, weather-resistant saddlebags or a tail bag to securely store your belongings. Consider the climate and terrain of your destination when packing, and always carry a first aid kit.
4. Plan Accommodations:
Research and book accommodations in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. Whether you prefer hotels, motels, or campgrounds, knowing where you'll stay each night adds a sense of security to your journey. Many online platforms offer motorcycle-friendly accommodations that cater to the needs of riders.
5. Safety First:
Prioritize safety by wearing appropriate protective gear, including a helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots. Make sure you have a valid motorcycle license and understand local traffic rules. Stay visible on the road by wearing brightly colored gear, and always ride within your comfort zone.
6. Budgeting:
Establish a budget for your trip, considering expenses like fuel, accommodations, meals, and potential unforeseen circumstances. Having a financial plan in place allows you to enjoy the adventure without worrying about overspending.
7. Stay Informed:
Keep track of weather updates and road conditions throughout your journey. Stay connected with fellow riders through online forums or social media groups to share experiences and gain valuable insights. Being informed helps you adapt to any changes on the road.
Planning a motorcycle adventure trip requires a balance of excitement and practicality. By defining your route, ensuring your motorcycle is in top shape, packing wisely, planning accommodations, prioritizing safety, budgeting effectively, and staying informed, you'll set the stage for an unforgettable and safe adventure on two wheels. So, rev up your engine, hit the road, and let the journey begin!
